Gomis closing in on Lyon exit
Lyon have confirmed that France international Bafetimbi Gomis has begun talks with the club over transfer offers from elsewhere.
The Ligue 1 club recently blamed the striker's refusal to discuss a move away for the sale of promising forward Anthony Martial to Monaco, though Gomis now appears ready to consider a departure from the Stade de Gerland.
And, with Premier League duo Cardiff and Swansea thought to be interested, the 27-year-old is sure to be in high demand during the off-season.
"President Jean-Michel Aulas met with Bafetimbi Gomis and his agent, in the presence of (Aulas' advisor) Bernard Lacombe and (legal advisor) Vincent Ponsot, to discuss the player's contractual situation and the transfer offers for him," a statement on Lyon's official website read.
"Taking into account the position of the player, who has not closed the door on discussing a transfer, the club asked him to stay at Tola Vologe to begin his preparations with Jean-Yves Ogier and also be more readily available for all negotiations."
Gomis has scored 127 goals in 367 career appearances in France since breaking through at Saint-Etienne.
