Bio

Gregory Robinson, usually shortened to Greg Robinson, was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana on October 21, 1992. An offensive tackle or guard for the St. Louis Rams, he was the second overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft. Prior to entering the National Football League, he played college football at Auburn University, where he became a Southeastern Conference Champion.

During his youth, Robinson attended Thibodaux High School, where he initially played on the defensive line. As a junior, he began playing as an offensive guard and as a senior, he featured in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. By the end of his high school career, he was regarded as one of the nation's top two guard prospects and was considered to be capable of playing in all five offensive line positions moving forwards. He committed to playing college football for the Auburn Tigers.

Despite being widely tipped to earn playing time as a true freshman, due to his existing size and physical toughness, Robinson was redshirted for the 2011 season. However, he became the team's first choice left tackle at the beginning of the following year and went on to start 11 games over the course of the season.

As a sophomore, Robinson continued to play as a left tackle and enjoyed an excellent year, starting all 14 games for the Tigers. He helped lead the team to the SEC Championship and an appearance in the 2014 BCS National Championship Game. During the game, Auburn came within 13 seconds of the National Championship, but were eventually beaten 34-31 by the Florida State Seminoles. For his performances during the season, Robinson was named first team All-SEC.

Having opted to forgo his final two seasons of college eligibility, Robinson declared entry into the 2014 NFL Draft, where he was projected to be a high draft pick. He was subsequently selected by the St. Louis Rams, as the second overall pick of the first round, seeing off competition from Jake Matthews and Taylor Lewan to be the first offensive tackle drafted. It marked the highest an Auburn lineman has ever been drafted in the NFL.
