Henry Anderson enters 2014 as a fifth-year senior at Stanford as defensive end with plenty of expectations placed upon his 6-6, 300-pound frame. He enters the season on the Bednarik, Nagurski and Outland Trophy watch lists after earning honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors a year ago despite being limited to eight games. Healthy again, Anderson will be counted on to improve on last year’s four tackles for loss and three sacks. The hope is he reverts to his 2012 form when he started 14 games and recorded 16 tackles for loss and six sacks.
Anderson was ranked the 26th best defensive end prospect by Rivals.com coming out of Woodward High in Georgia. He recorded 81 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks and six pass breakups his senior year in 2009. He was a first-team all-state selection as a senior and a three-time all-region selection. He would also win a state championship and break the school record as a shot-putter in track and field.
Did not see the field as a true freshman in 2010, but played in all 13 games as a sophomore in 2011 and made minimal contributions. In 2012, Anderson would earn second-team All-Pac-12 honors and really hit his stride the second half of the year. From game seven on, he had 11.5 tackles for loss (13 total) and 4.5 sacks (5.5 total). Entering 2013, he was on plenty of watch list for national honors, but injury limited him.
