Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is set for negotiations with Arsenal, according to his father.
Talks between Real and the Premier League outfit are believed to have taken place over recent weeks, with the transfer fee the main sticking point.
However, Jorge Higuain, who is one of his son's representatives, claims that personal negotiations will soon begin between club and player.
"We have been given permission by Real Madrid to negotiate with Arsenal," Higuain senior told Fox Sports Argentina.
"I will luckily be able to see my son in the Premier League soon."
If negotiations go smoothly, reports claim that Higuain could be an Arsenal player by as early as the start of next week.
The deal would represent a major coup for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has been linked with a host of big names in the close-season as he seeks to bring a trophy to the Emirates Stadium for the first time since 2005.
