Ivan “Ike” Taylor is a cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is ranked 20th among active players for playoff games played and started. Taylor has played his entire career in Pittsburgh and is a two-time Super Bowl Champion.
Taylor was born in Gretna Louisiana on May 5, 1980. At Marion Abramson Senior High School he was positioned as a running back, cornerback, defensive end and place kicker.

After enrolling at Louisiana Lafayette, Taylor experienced academic struggles that would put a halt on his collegiate football career for his freshman and sophomore years. In 2001, he earned his scholarship after joining the team as a walk-on. He became an average running back and kick returner before requesting to be moved to the cornerback position.
It wasn’t until his senior season as a cornerback that Taylor started producing substantial statistics in his collegiate career.
The Pittsburgh Steelers saw potential in Taylor’s cornerback abilities based on what he accomplished during his senior season. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft and has been a model of consistency in the Steelers’ defensive backfield.
After waiting his turn for two NFL seasons, Taylor earned the starting position in his third year. He continues to defend the NFL’s best WRs at age 34. Taylor isn’t known for his interceptions but excels in his ability to blanket receivers down the field with smothering coverage.
