When the coaches recruit a player they give this big speil about how the team is a family and why that particular college is so great. Coaches also recruit parents, tellng mom and dad how they will look out for their kid and treat them like one of their own. Consequently, the player goes to that school in large part of the relationship with the coach.
But what happens when that coach leaves? The coach gets to go to a new school with no repercussions. But if the player wants to leave he has to sit out a year at another Division I school, or take his superior talents to a Division II or III school with inferior facilities and prestige. It just doesn't seem right to me.
If a player wants to leave after the head coach takes a new job, they should be allowed to do the same with no punishment.
