My passion for soccer (or football) comes from two sources: my parents and the city I was born and raised in. My parents immigrated to the U.S. from Guatemala, were futbol reigns supreme. Growing up in Chicago, my passion for any and all sports was ignited in me from a very young age.
My career began playing AYSO soccer where I would rather pick dandelions instead of playing the game. However, I began to develop an uncanny ability to be a brick wall between the posts and before long, I found my calling to be a goalkeeper. Throughout club soccer and high school, I enjoyed every moment of the beautiful game.
My abilities on the field were only to imitate my heroes in the professional ranks. Staying up all night to watch the USMNT games in the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup are some of my fondest memories. Landon Donovan’s goal against Algeria in 2010 is forever tattooed in my mind and heart.
Here on Football.com, I hope to share my passion, give my opinion and inform readers as best I can.
I’m based out of Chicago, Ill. and proud alum of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis.
