Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles suffered a quad injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third quarter. The injury occurred during a rushing attempt on which Charles failed to convert on third-and-one.
Charles is questionable to return, but he returned to the sidelines after going into the locker room to get checked out by the medical staff.
With the Chiefs’ sizeable lead over the Jaguars, there’s no reason for the Chiefs to bring him back in and risk aggravating the injury. It’s clear that Charles will be their workhorse back, and he’s going to be featured on offense prominently. They’re likely to take every precaution and keep him out for the remainder of the game.
Prior to the injury, Charles piled up 76 rushing yards on 14 attempts and three receptions for 23 receiving yards. He also had a two-yard touchdown run in the second quarter that gave the Chiefs a comfortable lead over Jacksonville.
