Bio

Janoris Jenkins is a cornerback for the St. Louis Rams. He attended the University of Florida for three seasons before wrapping up his college career at the University of North Alabama and earned All-American recognition three times.

Early Years

Jenkins was born on October 29, 1988 in Pahokee, FL and played football at Pahokee High School. As a senior in 2008, he was named a First-Team Class 2B All-State selection and made the Parade magazine All-American team. Rivals.com ranked him as the sixth-best cornerback prospect in his class and he was given a four-star rating by the scouting service. He signed a letter of intent to play college football at the University of Florida following graduation.

University of Florida/University of North Alabama

Jenkins became the second true freshman ever to start opening day at cornerback for Florida in 2008. He started all 14 games for the Gators, making 39 tackles and intercepting three passes while being named to multiple Freshman All-American teams. He helped Florida capture a BCS National title in 2009 and then was named First-Team All-Southeastern Conference after making 32 tackles and three interceptions as a junior in 2010.

Off-field incidents became a recurring theme for Jenkins during his time at Florida. After being charged with possession of marijuana, he was dismissed by the school in April 2011 and transferred to the University of North Alabama. He was named a Second-Team All-American for Division II in his only season with the Lions.

St. Louis Rams

Jenkins had first round talent, but his off-field problems generated red flags for NFL scouts. The St. Louis Rams selected him with the 39th overall pick in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft, and he earned a starting spot at cornerback on opening day. He appeared in 15 games for the Rams and made 73 tackles and picked off four passes in an impressive rookie campaign. Though he didn’t generate as many turnovers in 2013, he still had 61 tackles and an interception during his second full NFL season.
