Jared Odrick is entering his fifth season with the Miami Dolphins. Odrick, a hulking defensive tackle listed at 6-foot-5, 302 pounds, has been one of the most consistent performers on the Dolphins’ defensive line, recording 15.5 sacks in 25 starts over his four-year NFL career. On July 29, 2010, he signed a five-year, $13 million contract.
Early Years & College
Odrick was born in Lancaster, Pa., on Dec. 31, 1987. He attended Lebanon High where he was a Parade Magazine and U.S. Army All-American as a senior. Odrick, a first-team All-State selection, made 70 tackles (10 for loss) and five sacks in 2006, with three blocked kicks. After graduating, Odrick went to Penn State University where he played in 12 games as a true freshman, mostly as a reserve defensive end. In four years at Penn State, Odrick registered 47 solo tackles (25.5 for loss) and 14.5 sacks.
The Dolphins selected Odrick in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft (28th overall). Odrick played sparingly in his rookie season, but a breakout 2011 – six sacks, one interception – quickly earned him more snaps. Splitting time at defensive end and defensive tackle, Odrick started 12 games in 2012 before a nagging groin injury derailed his 2013 campaign. In parts of four seasons in Miami, he has tallied 100 combined tackles, 15.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
