The Arizona Wildcats secondary will rely on the savvy instincts and run-stopping ability of Jared Tevis, a redshirt senior, in 2014. The 5-10, 195-pounder returns to the defense after earning All Pac-12 honorable mention in 2013 when he recorded 83 tackles and an interception. Has started 22 games the past two seasons and has 177 total tackles for the team, which demonstrates his value in helping support the run game. He’ll be counted on for more of that in 2014.
Tevis was named an Arizona Top-25 prospect coming out of Canyon del Oro High School in Tucson, Ariz. He was named to all-city, all-region and all-state teams after his senior season.
After redshirting his true freshman season in 2010, Tevis got into the action big-time in 2011, playing in all 12 games in the secondary and on special teams. Was a Pac-12 All-Academic second-teamer in 2011. In 2012, he started 11 games in the team’s “bandit” position in the 3-3-5 defense and earned Pac-12 honorable mention as well as first-team academic honors. In 2013, he was again a Pac-12 first-team all-academic selection in addition to Pac-12 on-field mention. He had four tackles for loss, a sack and one interception in 2013.
