Jeff Driskel is a quarterback for the University of Florida Gators of the Southeastern Conference.
Driskel shined at Hagerty High School in Florida as both Rivals and Scout named him the top quarterback recruit in the nation. He was named the Maxwell Football Club National High School Player of the Year and Gatorade Florida Player of the Year in 2010. Driskel threw for 4,844 yards and tossed 36 touchdown passes over the course of his high school career and was an Under Armour All-American.
He participated in five games for the Gators as a true freshman in 2011, completing 16-34 passes for 148 yards. Driskel has the distinction of the longest run against the Alabama defense in 2011, a 31-yard scramble against the Crimson Tide. He started 12 games, 11 at quarterback for Florida in 2012. His first career start technically came at the wide receiver spot at Bowling Green, where he lined up at wide receiver for the first play of the game before moving over to his familiar quarterback spot. Driskel threw for 1,646 yards and 12 touchdowns while getting picked off five times. He also added 408 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Driskel was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week after he torched Tennessee in a game that included a personal long 75-yard touchdown pass. He broke Tim Tebow’s Florida record for rushing yards by a quarterback in one game with 177 rushing yards against Vanderbilt. Tebow had run for 166 yards against Ole Miss in 2007. In 2013 Driskel started the first four games of the season for Florida before suffering a fractured leg that ended his season. He threw for 477 yards before the injury and set a career high for passing yards with 291 against Miami.
