Bio

Vastola is a 2013 graduate of Wake Forest University where he majored in communication and sociology. During his senior year, he was a contributing writer to 4th and Gold, a sports blog on the digital version of the school newspaper, The Old Gold and Black. In addition, he was an athletic department assistant at multiple home football games. In this role, he assisted in gameday operations by distributing statistics to coaches and broadcasters and researched team and player records for social media updates. In the summer of 2012, Vastola interned with the National Football League in New York.  As an intern, he gained exposure to league operations and utilized an internal database in order to evaluate patterns and trends related to NFL player arrests since the 2010 season. Currently, he is working for the NFL as a Player Participation Auditor. In this position, he is responsible for tracking and identifying each player for every play of the preseason, regular season and playoffs. Furthermore, he input play-by-play data from select NCAA games into the NFL’s statistical database, which is then paired with game video and is accessible to team owners, general managers and coaches.
