Banks was born on October 3, 1989 in Maben, Mississippi. He attended East Webster High School in Cumberland, Mississippi where he played safety and quarterback for the Wolverines.
As a senior, Banks accounted for 1,740 yards and 17 TDs on offense and had 35 tackles and seven interceptions on defense. As a junior, he rushed for 16 TDs as a running back. He once ran three punt returns for TDs in a single game.
He was named the 63rd best athlete in the country by Rivals.com and the 69th-best safety by Scouts.com.

After recording four interceptions as a safety his freshman year, Banks moved to cornerback as a sophomore.
In his four-year career, Banks never had less than three interceptions in any seasons. His 15 career interceptions in the third-most in SEC history and his 321 career interception return yards in the third-most in conference history as well.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Banks was drafted by the Bucs with the 43rd-overall pick during the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He was the sixth cornerback taken in the draft.
Banks finished his rookie season with 15 starts, three interceptions, and 55 total tackles.
