Jordan Raymond Nelson is a wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers and a former Super Bowl champion.
Nelson was born on May 31, 1985 in Manhattan Kansas. He attended Riley County High School where he played quarterback but also rushed for 1,572 yards averaging 9.8 yards per carry. He earned Top 22 honors as dual-position player at quarterback and defensive back. He was also an All-State basketball player averaging 17.2 points per game. As a senior he also won state titles in track and field at 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters as well as the long jump. He committed to Kansas State University.
Kansas State Wildcats
Nelson was a walk-on at Kansas State, after a redshirt year he was moved to wide receiver. He flourished in his first year as a receiver with eight touchdowns. Following a lackluster junior year, Nelson had a breakout senior year. He filled the stat sheet with 122 receptions for 1,606 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. He was ranked second in the NCAA in receptions and receiving yards with Consensus All-American honors.
Green Bay Packers
Nelson was selected in the second round of the 2008 draft by the Green Bay Packers. He played a backup role as a receiver in his first three years before a productive 2011 season. The Super Bowl victory earlier in 2011 seemed to motivate Nelson for the next season. He started nine games for the defending Super Bowl Champions and recorded 1,263 yards with 15 touchdowns. Injuries deflated his 2012 season but he was able to recover for a productive 2013 season. He amassed 85 receptions for 1,314 yards and eight touchdowns starting in all 16 games.
