Julian Edelman Re-injures Right Foot
Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is in a walking boot after re-injuring his right foot sometime during the team’s organized activities – the same foot Edelman broke in week 13 at Miami that landed him on injured reserve in 2012 – according to league sources.
Edelman signed a one-year deal with the Patriots in April after briefly testing the free agent market. His contract has a maximum value of just over $1 million, with a base salary of $715,000, a league minimum for a player entering his fifth season.
Edelman, who has missed 16 games in his four-year career due to injury, is not expected to participate in any organized team events in the coming weeks. And, according to the Boston Globe’s Shalise Manza Young, a league source said there is an outside chance Edelman will be ready for minicamp early in June. If he does participate, it would be on a limited basis.
Edelman also missed three games in 2012 due to a hand injury after the Patriots’ week 3 matchup against the Ravens.
If everything heals properly, expect him to be healthy and ready for training camp.
