Justin Houston Elbow Injury Concerning For Chiefs
By Allen Kim
As if losing Tambi Hali to an ankle injury wasn’t bad enough, the Kansas City Chiefs are also concerned over the right elbow injury OLB Justin Houston suffered in their loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Houston’s elbow was subluxed, meaning that it was dislocated temporarily. It briefly popped out of place before popping back in, and the swelling was so bad that he wasn’t even able to undergo the MRI he had scheduled for today.
"After the game they were trying to keep the swelling down, but you could see after the game it was puffing up a little bit, and then overnight it was swollen even more," Reid said.
Regardless of whether or not there was any significant ligament damage to his elbow, Houston could be looking at a multi-week injury. If the team were to lose Houston for any period of time, it will make their task trying to retake the lead in the AFC West from the Broncos all the more difficult.
Along with Hali, Houston has formed one half of arguably the best pass-rushing duo in the league, and losing just one of them would be bad enough. If they lost both, it would be a major blow to their defense.
Houston’s status for their Week 13 rematch with the Denver Broncos is in serious doubt.
