Ka'Deem Carey was born in Tucson, Arizona on October 30, 1992. A running back for the Chicago Bears, he was selected in the 2014 NFL Draft. Prior to entering the NFL, he had played college football for the Arizona Wildcats, where he set numerous school rushing records.
Growing up in Oro Valley, Arizona, Carey went to Canyon del Oro High School. He helped the school's football team to win the 4A-I State Title as a junior, rushing for 2,738 yards and 45 touchdowns. Then, as a senior, Carey was credited with 1,754 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns, receiving All-State and All-Conference selections.
Having committed to the University of Arizona, Carey saw playing time as a true freshman, appearing in a total of 11 games across the season. He registered 425 rushing yards, while his six rushing touchdowns was a team-best tally for the year. Additionally, he managed 15 catches for 203 yards and two touchdowns.
As a sophomore, Carey started all 13 games for the team, rushing for 1,929 yards and 23 touchdowns, setting single season school records for both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. His performance against Colorado, in which he rushed for 366 yards, set new single game rushing records for Arizona and the Pac-12 Conference as a whole. He finished the year just one all-purpose yard shy of Dennis Northcutt's school record for a single season and he was named as a consensus All-American, appearing in eight different All-America teams.
Carey went on to enjoy an excellent final season with the Wildcats, despite missing the first game of the season through suspension. Over the year, he rushed for 1,885 yards and broke his own school rushing touchdowns record, with 25 touchdowns. For the second year in a row, he was a consensus All-American selection. Moreover, he was named as the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year for 2013.
After opting to bypass his final season of college eligibility, Carey declared entry into the 2014 NFL Draft and was selected by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round, as the 117th overall pick. He subsequently signed a four-year contract with the franchise.
