Bio

Kenny Vaccaro is a safety for the New Orleans Saints.

EARLY YEARS

Vaccaro was born February 15, 1991 in Brownwood, Texas. He attended Early High School and played football for the Early Longhorns and the Brownwood Lions.

UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS

After seeing time sparingly his first two years on campus, Vaccaro started all 13 games his junior year, totaling 82 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions. He helped the team beat the California Golden Bears 21-10 in the 2011 Holiday Bowl.

As a senior, Vaccaro was named a first-team All-American by Pro Football Weekly after making 92 tackles, bringing in two interceptions, and forcing two fumbles.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Vaccaro was drafted with the 15th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.

Before breaking his ankle against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16, Vaccaro was having a solid rookie season. He finished his first year playing in 14 games with 79 tackles, one sacks, one forced fumble, one interception, and six pass breakups. He finished third in voting for NFL Defensive rookie of the year,

Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said last year that Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas is the best free safety in the league, but Vaccaro is the best “overall safety.”
