Kevonte Martin-Manley is a wide receiver and punt returner for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big Ten Conference. He was named a 2014 preseason second team All-American as a punt returner by Phil Steele.
Martin-Manley attended Brother Rice High School in Pontiac, Michigan. He was a first-team All-State selection as a senior with 43 catches for 745 yards and 10 touchdowns. He returned 14 kick-offs for 314 yards and returned 12 punts for 199 yards. He also starred in basketball as a prep.
Martin-Manley redshirted at Iowa in 2010 and named to the conference all-freshman team by BTN.com in 2011. He caught 30 balls for 323 yards and three scores on offense while also averaging more than 20 yards per kick-off return. In 2012, Martin-Manley was the top receiver on the Hawkeyes as he caught a team-leading 52 passes for a team-leading 571 yards. He also tallied two receiving touchdowns.
But it was the 2013 season that saw Martin-Manley emerge as a force on special teams. He returned 20 punts in 2013 for an average of 15.7 yards per return and two touchdowns. Martin-Manley was once again his team’s leading receiver in 2013, catching 40 balls for 388 yards and five touchdowns. Both his punt returns for touchdowns came against Western Michigan University on back-to-back efforts of 83 and 63 yards. The Hawkeyes tallied 446 yards of total offense in that game. Phil Steele, the Sporting News and College Sports Madness named Martin-Manley to their first-team All-Big Ten teams as a specialist.
