Leighton Baines



Leighton Baines was born in Kirkby, Merseyside on 11 December 1984. An attack-minded England international left back, he is primarily known for his crossing, dribbling skills and accurate passing. Baines' tendency to shoot from long-range and his ability to take accurate set pieces also make him a direct goal threat.

Baines joined Wigan Athletic in 2001 as a youth team player and graduated to the senior side the following year. After making six league appearances during the team's Division 2 promotion campaign of 2003-03, he featured more regularly the following year. Then, in 2004-05, he was an important part of the side which gained promotion to the Premier League.
