San Luis have claimed their second consecutive victory in Liga MX, winning 1-0 over fellow strugglers Atlante, who have now lost six on the trot.

Luis Rodriguez's smart finish in the second half inspired San Luis to victory at Atlante's Estadio Olimpico Andres Quintana Roo as the visitors continued their recovery from a dreadful start to the 2013 season.

The win took San Luis off the bottom of Liga MX's table, while Atlante dropped to last place as their losing streak continued.

Despite losing two players to red cards on Sunday, San Luis backed up from their 3-0 win over Jaguares last week to win the battle of Liga MX's cellar-dwellers.

San Luis lost midfielder Emilio Lopez four minutes before half-time due to a straight red card but in the 75th minute the visitors grabbed the only goal of the game when Rodriguez held off an opponent and slotted the ball inside the far post from a tight angle.

Despite having Rodriguez sent off with seven minutes remaining, San Luis held on for victory, continuing their resurgence following eight defeats and three draws in the opening 11 rounds.

In the other Liga MX clash, Toluca defeated Monterrey 1-0 to rise from 13th to 10th position on the standings with 18 points.

Toluca clinched victory when Lucas Silva crossed to Juan Carlos Cacho in the 71st minute and the veteran striker flicked his header into the top corner of the net.

The win took Toluca to one point ahead of Monterrey and Cruz Azul, while Guadalajara are a further point behind.
