Sporting Braga moved to third on the Liga Sagres table with a 2-0 home win over Maritimo on Saturday.

While Porto and Benfica are battling it out for the title, Sporting Braga and Pacos de Ferreira are involved in an intriguing battle for third position.

And with Pacos de Ferreira not playing until Sunday, when they will host bottom-placed Beira-Mar, Braga jumped into third position with their victory.

The win – the club's fourth in a row – came in front of their home fans at Estadio AXA.

Midfielder Hugo Viana opened the scoring after 41 minutes before Alan wrapped up the win in second-half stoppage time.

The day's other game saw Sporting Lisbon claim a 1-1 draw at Academica.

Dutch forward Ricky van Wolfswinkel netted a late leveller for Sporting, cancelling out Wilson Eduardo's first-half penalty.
