The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms with former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Montell Owens.
Owens, a two-time pro bowl selection, appeared in 13 games for Jacksonville last season, including four starts. He accumulated 209 rushing yards and a touchdown on 42 carries, all of which are career highs.
Special teams appears to be the niche for the veteran back and it may have played a role in landing him his new gig. Current Lions special teams coach John Bonamego was on the Jaguars’ coaching staff during the 2012 campaign.
