Liverpool have emphatically denied reports that captain Steven Gerrard could miss the start of the 2013-14 Premier League campaign.
The 33-year-old sat out the final two games of last season after electing to undergo surgery on a long-standing shoulder problem.
And it has since been suggested that a setback in his recovery could result in a lengthier lay-off than had been expected by the club’s medical team.
However, Liverpool have moved to dismiss those rumours in a statement on the club's official website, claiming that Gerrard is still scheduled to be fit in time to feature in pre-season training.
Gerrard appeared in 36 league games last season, his joint-highest total since making his English top-flight debut in 1998.
Liverpool's pre-season commitments begin on Saturday July 20, when they take on an Indonesian XI at the Gelora Bung Karno National Stadium.
