Bio

Logan Mankins played his first nine seasons with the New England Patriots, establishing himself as one of the most dominant left guards in the NFL. He’s made six Pro Bowls and has been named to five All-Pro teams, while being selected to the Patriots’ 50th Anniversary Team. On August 10, 2011, he signed a six-year, $51 million deal.

Early Years & College

Mankins was born in Catheys Valley, Calif. on March 10, 1982. Mankins lettered in football at Mariposa High, while being named team MVP and an all-league performer. Upon graduation, he attended Fresno State and was responsible for protecting quarterback David Carr’s blind side as a freshman – he surrendered just two sacks. Mankins earned first-team All-WAC honors as a senior despite missing the entire 2013 season.

New England Patriots

The Patriots drafted Mankins in the first round of the 2005 NFL draft (32nd overall). Upon arrival, he was switched from left tackle to left guard and filled the void left by veteran Joe Andruzzi. Mankins started all 16 games in his rookie season and never looked back, including scoring a touchdown, on a fumble recovery, in the 2006 AFC Championship Game. Following a contentious 2010 season, when he publicly asked for a trade, Mankins played in the final seven games and made the Pro Bowl. In 2011, the Patriots slapped the franchise tag on Mankins and, under threat of a lawsuit, eventually signed him to a franchise tender worth $10 million. He remains one of the highest paid guards in the NFL.
