Futebol Clube Lusitanos, usually known more simply as Lusitanos, was founded in Andorra la Vella in 1999. Despite the team's youth, they have progressed quickly and have become one of the most successful teams in the Andorran Primera Divisió. The club has strong cultural links with Portugal, with many of the club's supporters and players coming from the country. This sense of Portuguese identity is displayed in the club crest, which closely resembles the Portuguese Football Federation's logo.
Upon entering the Andorran league system, Lusitanos competed in the country's second tier, the Segona Divisió. However, they quickly gained promotion to the top flight, after finishing the 1999-00 season as Segona Divisió champions. Since entering the Primera Divisió, they have solidified their top flight status, having never suffered relegation.
Soon after arriving in the top tier, the team won their first major honour, as Lusitanos defeated Inter Club d'Escaldes in the final of the Copa Constitució. They reached the final of the tournament again in 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2011-12, but were unsuccessful on all three occasions. However, in 2010, the club made its debut in a major European competition, the UEFA Europa League. Despite their failure in the Copa Constitució final, the 2011–12 marked the biggest success in the team's history, as they won the Primera Divisió. The following year, they were able to retain their title and further establish themselves as one of the league's top clubs. As a result of their back-to-back league title wins, the team were also granted entry to the qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League in 2012 and 2013.
As with the other clubs in the country's top division, Lusitanos play all of their matches at either the DEVK-Arena in Sant Julià de Lòria or the Estadi Comunal d'Andorra la Vella in Andorra la Vella. DEVK-Arena is generally used for Lusitanos' home games and has a capacity of 1,000.
