Marcel Reece Signs 3-Year Extension With Raiders
By Allen Kim
The Oakland Raiders signed FB Marcel Reece to a three-year extension worth more than $13 million with $7.2 million, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.
"It's another step to my goal — being a Raider for life. I plan on playing for as long as God will allow me to. If it's for a lot longer, I want it all to be with the Raiders," Reece said. "Al Davis believed in me more than I did myself at times, and it meant a lot to me. I take it to heart and I take it seriously. Mark Davis has loved me the same."
Reece, one of the best fullbacks in the league, is coming off a trip to his first Pro Bowl after rushing for 271 yards while catching 52 passes for another 496 yards. The 28-year-old is entering his fifth season in the league but only his fourth season as a fullback. He’s shown his versatility, taking handoffs in the backfield and running routes from the slot.
“Just looking forward to the next few years of continuing to be a part of Raider Nation,” Reece said. "It wasn't necessarily quick," said Reece. "I've just been trying to relax and play football, and one thing I told my agent, Joel Segal, is, 'You do your thing, with whoever you need to do it with. I'm going to focus on football and being a Raider.'"
