Weisman attended Stevenson High School in Illinois. A first team All-State selection as a senior, he ran for 1,657 yards tallied 22 rushing touchdowns. Weisman lettered three times as a fullback and a linebacker while leading Stevenson to the state playoffs three consecutive years. He also was a three-year letterman in track.
Weisman originally attended the Air Force Academy where he did not play and elected to transfer to Iowa in 2010. He joined the Hawkeyes as a walk-on and redshirted in 2011.
In 2012 Weisman appeared in 10 games as a fullback and a running back. Weisman earned nine starts and topped the rushing charts for the Hawkeyes with 815 yards on the ground and eight touchdowns. He also tallied one receiving touchdown on the season. An Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Weisman scored the first three touchdowns of his career against Northern Iowa. He tallied 217 rushing yards against Central Michigan and 177 rushing yards against Minnesota.
Entering 2013, Weisman was a fourth team pre-season All-Big Ten selection by Phil Steele. He responded by leading the Hawkeyes in rushing yards with 975 as Weisman started every game at running back. He scored eight rushing touchdowns on his way to a post-season third team All-Big Ten selection by Steele and an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection by BTN.com.
Entering the 2014 season, Weisman ranks 14th in Iowa history in rushing yards with 1,790.
