With the first week of the regular underway, we get to see Chivas USA and Chicago Fire make their regular season debut. These teams were both involved in the Desert Diamond Cup this preseason, although they never faced each other.
Despite the shock from De Bontin resigning, the Fire have been on a scoring frenzy lately and I see no way Chivas will slow them down. Mike Magee is always a threat and new addition Benji Joya is turning into an assist machine. Chivas USA will likely be playing on their heels trying to slow down an impressive group of attackers.
While Chivas has shown sign of life by beating New England Revolution 3-2, nothing else shows aptitude. Having a scoreless draw with Colorado Rapids and a 1-1 draw with FC Tuscon leave a lot of concern on how they will handle a quality opponent like Chicago.
