Vincenzo Montella insisted that Fiorentina's draw with Lazio on Sunday was a point gained rather than two dropped.
Montella's side started the season with three wins in their opening four matches but have not won since late September – a run of three league fixtures.
However, the Italian felt happy with their 0-0 draw at the Stadio Olimpico despite it being the only league match that they have failed to score in.
"It is an important result and we take the point, even if Lazio did more and deserved something more," he told Sky Sport Italia. "We tried to take the initiative, but we weren’t sharp enough tonight.
"The result is positive, because last season we wouldn't even have managed that with this performance."
With the international break, Fiorentina's next league clash is two weeks away against Juventus, and Montella hopes to have some of his injured players back for the visit of Antonio Conte's side.
Mario Gomez and Ante Rebic are both currently sidelined, and Giuseppe Rossi continues his rehabilitation from long term injury.
"The break comes at the right time," Montella added. "As we can get some players back from injury and rest others who haven't had the chance.
"It's no coincidence we lacked sharpness this evening."
