Nemanja Vidić



Nemanja Vidić was born in Titovo Užice, SFR Yugoslavia on 21 October 1981. A no nonsense central defender, he is known for his bravery, tough tackling, aggression and leadership skills and is generally regarded as one of the finest defenders of his generation. In both 2008–09 and 2010–11, he was named in the FIFA FIFPro World XI.

Vidić began his professional career with Red Star Belgrade, who he joined as a youth team player in 1996. After reaching the senior team, he spent a season on loan at Spartak Subotica, before returning to Red Star and establishing himself in the side. In 2001-02, Vidić helped the team to win the Yugoslav Cup, while in 2003-04 they won the First League of Serbia and Montenegro and the Serbia and Montenegro Cup.
