New Details Emerge Regarding Moffitt's Legal Troubles
By Nate Woelfel
Seattle Seahawks guard John Moffitt was absent from OTA’s on Tuesday due to a court hearing for misdemeanor trespassing and obstruction of justice charges stemming from an incident at a local mall.
New information has come to the surface regarding the incident.
The lineman, who is entering his third year in the league, reportedly received a one-year ban from the Bellevue Square mall that took effect in January 2012. However, Moffitt was spotted, allegedly urinating in the vicinity of a vehicle, on mall property in June.
Mall security eventually called police who then reportedly located Moffitt and another male running down a nearby street. Moffitt is said to have evaded officers by seeking shelter in an area building.
Police later showed photos of Moffitt to mall security official who was able to identify him.
Moffitt , who has appeared in 17 games in his NFL career, making 15 starts, was caught trespassing in August at another mall that is owned by the same development company.
He is scheduled to be back in court on June 14 to address the alleged public urination episode.
