Barcelona have confirmed that midfielder Andres Iniesta has suffered a badly bruised knee but that he has no further damage.
Iniesta was forced off at half-time in Saturday's goalless La Liga stalemate at Atletico Madrid, replaced by star striker Lionel Messi.
On Sunday, the Catalan giants said the midfielder was removed as a precaution, and that the injury was not serious.
"Andres Iniesta, who was taken off at half-time on Saturday, has a badly bruised left knee, but no other complications," a brief statement on the club's official website read.
"Tests carried out this morning confirmed that the player's recovery time will determine his availability for future games.
"Iniesta was taken off as a precaution at half-time against Atletico Madrid after the knock he picked up and was substituted by Leo Messi."
