Notre Dame offensive lineman Christian Lombard will miss the rest of spring practice with a dislocated wrist.

Lombard, an upcoming senior, had surgery on the wrist Thursday and is expected to be available for the start of the season. Listed at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, Lombard has played guard and tackle, starting each of the last two seasons. Part of the Lombardi Award watch list last season, he started seven games at right guard before a herniated disk forced him to miss the rest of the season and also required surgery.

According to ESPN, Conor Hanratty will take the first-team reps in Lombard's absence.

Junior wide receiver Will Mahone, converted from running back, also had surgery Thursday to repair a right foot fracture and will miss the rest of spring practice.

The Fighting Irish will play their annual spring game April 12 and open the season Aug. 30 against Rice, allowing plenty of time for Lombard and Mahone to recover.
