Posluszny was born on October 10, 1984 in Butler, Pennsylvania. He played running back and linebacker at Hopewell High School. As a senior, he helped lead the team to a WPIAL championship with a record of 8-1. They also won the AAA State Championship.

In eight games as a true freshman, Posluszny recorded 36 tackles and an interceptions that he returned for a TD. He was named to the Big-Ten All-Freshman Team.
As a sophomore, he led the team for the first of three consecutive season with 104 tackles. He was named a second-team All-Big-Ten player.
As a junior and senior, Posluszny became the second player to ever win the Chuck Bednarik Award twice and the first Penn State linebacker to be named a two-time All-American.
Posluszny was drafted by the Bills in the second round (34th-overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft.
In week 3 of his rookie season, he broke his forearm and was placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
He was named a team captain prior to the 2009 NFL Draft. In 12 games that season, Posluszny recorded 111 tackles, one sack, and three interceptions.
Posluszny signed a six-year, $42 million contract with the Jaguars on July 29, 2011.
In 2013, he was named to his first Pro Bowl after recording 162 tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions.
