It’s preseason (aka overeactionseason). If you check Twitter too much during this time of year, you might start thinking that Jordan Cameron should be taken right behind Jimmy Graham, and that Shane Vereen is some Frankenstein combination of Barry Sanders, Darren Sproles, and Rob Gronkowski.
Sometimes the people saying (or tweeting, as the case may be) these things are onto something and sometimes (most of the time?) they’re just overreacting and/or trying to be the one who “called it." While it’s hard to completely ignore the noise, making sure to filter it before you head into your draft can be the difference between overdrafting a player and getting highway robbery value out of him.
And since a successful draft is all about value, let’s take a look at some of the players who are rising and falling this preseason and try to filter the noise so that we can find the right value for them.
