Bio

There’s no cornerback in the Big 12 with more experience than Quandre Diggs, who will bring it to the Texas Longhorns party in 2014. He’s started 36 of the 39 games he’s played in for Texas and has 32 career pass breakups and eight interceptions along the way. He’s a two-time All-Big 12 selection (2011 and 2013) and enters the 2014 season on the Bednarik, Thorpe and Nagurski watch lists. He is a seasoned leader for not only the secondary, but the defense as a whole, and will be counted on to set the tone for the Longhorns defense in 2014.

High School

A star at Angleton High School in Angleton, Texas, he was a prep All-American and two-time all-state performer. When he left high school, he was considered the No. 1 cornerback and 21st overall prospect at any position. He finished his high school career with 8,265 all-purpose yards and 83 touchdowns playing multiple positions, including quarterback. He totaled 237 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, six sacks, 10 interceptions and 52 pass breakups in his high school career. Played in the 2011 Under Armour All-American Game and also earned three letters in track and two in basketball.

College

It didn’t take Diggs long to make his mark at Texas. As a true freshman in 2011, he started 11 of the 13 games he played in, earning numerous freshman All-American honors along the way. He was also named the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year and tabbed a second-team All-Big 12 performer by the coaches. Tied a school freshman record with a team high four interceptions to go along with 51 tackles and 15 pass breakups. In 2012, he started all 13 games at cornerback and again led the team in interceptions with four. Had 59 total tackles, including 39 solo stops. In 2013, he played in all 13 games, with 12 starts, and was first on the team in pass breakups (10) and earned honorable mention All-Big 12 accolades. Recorded 58 total tackles, four tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks as a junior.
