St. Louis Rams LT Jake Long was carted off the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a right knee injury, and he was immediately ruled as doubtful to return. Roger Saffold was moved over from the right side to take over for Long as Kellen Clemens' blindside protector.
While Long will undergo an MRI on his knee tomorrow to confirm the full extent of the damage, the team currently fears that Long tore his ACL. That would end his season early with only one game left on the schedule, and it’s a major blow to their offensive line.
In the first year of a four-year, $34 million contract he signed with the Rams in the offseason, Long has had a strong year.
Long suffered a concussion in Week 13, but he hasn’t missed a game up until this point. And while he has been healthy for St. Louis this year, he missed six games in his last two seasons with the Miami Dolphins.
