RGIII Medically Cleared To Play
After months of consternation, Robert Griffin III has finally been medically cleared to play.
Operation Patience....Complete. Cleared. To God Be The Glory
Griffin tweeted out that message last night, much to the relief of ‘Skins fans everywhere. He worked out on the field prior to the team’s final preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while Dr. James Andrews watched on. Everything went smoothly, and Griffin is one step closer to getting behind center.
However, there are still no guarantees that he’ll start Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Coach Mike Shanahan has been coy about his plans, and he apparently has some concerns before he gives the official green light. While he wasn’t forthcoming with his concerns, he plans to share them once he speaks to Griffin over the weekend.
According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, the team just wants to see Griffin get in a good week of practice with the first team before they make the final decision. All indications out of training camp have been nothing but positive, and there was little doubt that he would be ready for the start of the regular season.
