Riley Cooper Returns To The Eagles
By Allen Kim
Riley Cooper, the Philadelphia Eagles embattled wide receiver, has returned to the team following a short leave of absence to seek counseling following the release of his racial outburst caught on video. He is scheduled to practice with the team and to speak with the media after practice concludes.
Cooper’s absence was relatively short, clocking in at only four days. It appears that the Eagles are planning on keeping Cooper on the team, which isn’t too surprising considering how thin they are at the position. However, with reports that Damaris Johnson has been impressing throughout training camp, Cooper’s place on the roster isn’t guaranteed.
Chip Kelly and the Eagles organization will have to carefully monitor Cooper and how his presence affects the rest of the locker room. If there is any hint of a divide, they could quickly cut Cooper loose. There was clearly some tension the last time he was with the team, and it has yet to be determined whether or not four days was long enough for cooler heads to prevail.
