The Washington Redskins can now breathe a sigh of relief as their star QB Robert Griffin III has been cleared by doctors to practice, and it seems that he’s on track to jump right into training camp.
According to Griffin, coach Mike Shanahan and the rest of the coaching staff are planning on easing him in. This is also music to the ears of ‘Skins fans considering all the criticism Shanahan has taken for putting Griffin’s body through too much punishment, especially when it was obvious that he was playing hurt last year.
After hearing dozens of reports about Griffin’s progress and recovery being ahead of schedule, it appears that they were all true. By all accounts, he’s had an Adrian Peterson-type path to recovery since tearing his ACL in the playoffs last year.
While it has yet to be seen how his body reacts to the abuse of the regular season, Griffin has made impressive progress in the last six months. It should be interesting to see if Griffin’s mobility has been impeded in any way since the injury.
