Ronald Martin is a safety for the LSU Tigers of the Southeastern Conference. In May of 2014 he was named one of the top 100 prospects in the nation to watch for the 2015 NFL Draft by NFLDraftScout.com.
Martin attended White Castle High School in Louisiana. He was a three-star recruit according to Rivals and Scout. He played quarterback and safety for White Castle. Martin led them to the state championship his senior year. On defense he tallied nine interceptions while on offense he threw for more than 1,400 yards and rushed for more than 1,100 yards. He also ran track and played basketball and baseball as a prep athlete.
As a true freshman at LSU in 2011 Martin filled in near the end of the season due to injuries in the secondary. He recorded three tackles and broke up two passes. In 2012 Martin saw his playing time significantly increase as he played in all 13 games and earned one start. That start came against Idaho and he made the most of it by tallying two interceptions and returning one for a touchdown.
In 2013 Martin played in eight games, starting seven of them. An injury cut his season short. Martin recorded 38 tackles and broke up four passes. Martin had a huge game against Ole Miss, recording 12 tackles as well as forcing and recovering a fumble.
