Sam Baker is an offensive tackle for the Atlanta Falcons. Baker was a three-time First-Team All-American during his career at the University of Southern California.


Baker was born on May 30, 1985 in Tustin, California. He played high school football at Tustin High School, the same school where Frostee Rucker, Matt McCoy, and DeShaun Foster played. He was a player in the 2003 U.S. Army All-American Bowl as a senior.


Baker was a four-year starter at USC, blocking for the likes of Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart. He was named a First-Team All-American as a sophomore.

Going into his junior year, he was on the watch list for the Lombardi Award and the Outland Trophy for the best lineman. He was named a First-Team All-American and a member of the All-Pac-10 team for the second time in his career.


Baker was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons with the 21st pick in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

After starting five games a rookie, Baker started 30 games at left tackle over the next two seasons. He has only played in one full season since the 2010 NFL Season. He made only six starts in 2011 and played in only four games in 2013. 

Before the 2013 NFL Season, Baker signed a new six-year contract worth $41.5 million.
