The Oakland Raiders have signed K Sebastian Janikowski to a four-year extension worth $15.2 million, according to CSN’s Scott Bair. This makes the former first-round draft pick the highest paid kicker in NFL history.
Including the $3.8 he’s due this upcoming season, he’ll be making roughly $19 million through 2017, and he’ll earn $8 million in the first two years of the deal.
Janikowski holds a number of NFL kicking records, and he is tied for the longest field goal in league history at 63 yards. The 35-year-old is known for his strong leg and deep kicking range, regularly attempting 50-plus yard field goals every year (he’s attempted a minimum of seven in each of the last seven seasons).
He has a career average of 80.6-percent on field goal attempts, and he topped out at a career-high 91.2-percent last season.
