Serie A Wrap: Roma, Atalanta record victories
Oct 06, 2013 1:52 PM EST
Ten-man Roma extended their 100 per cent winning run in Serie A to seven games with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Inter at San Siro.
All three goals came in the first half as Rudi Garcia's side ran riot against a bewildered Inter defence on their way to their biggest win at San Siro - against either Milan club - in Serie A history.
Francesco Totti opened the scoring with a neat finish before converting a penalty to double his tally after 40 minutes, taking the striker to 230 Serie A goals.
Alessandro Florenzi added a third on the stroke of half-time with a powerful shot across Samir Handanovic to put the visitors in complete control.
Inter had chances at the start of the second half, but it was Roma who went closest to scoring through Gervinho, although the Ivorian's shot lacked power.
Federico Balzaretti received his marching orders late on after a wayward challenge of Ricky Alvarez earned him a second yellow card.
Defeat was Inter's first in Serie A this season, while Roma are five points clear at the top ahead of Napoli, who play Livorno on Sunday.
Saturday's other game saw Atalanta condemn Chievo to their fifth league defeat of the season with a 1-0 victory in Verona.
Maxi Moralez netted the only goal of the game - his first in over a year - with a powerful back-post volley in the 16th minute as Atalanta recorded their third win of the season and their first at Chievo in Serie A to move into eighth position.
Chievo's third defeat in a row leaves them fourth bottom in the league table.
