Shakhtar Donestsk have confirmed the signing of Fluminense midfielder Wellington Nem for a reported fee of nine million euros.
The 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Ukrainian champions which will contract him to the Donbass Arena club until 2018.
A three-cap Brazil international, Wellington Nem told a press conference he considers himself ready for the challenge of European football.
"I'm very happy to have joined Shakhtar. I know this club is used to winning so that is why I signed, but the club's Brazilian contingent was also a factor," he said.
"I understand that I need time to adapt to European football. But I'm ready for this."
Wellington Nem went on praise Brazil-born former Portugal international Deco, who acted as mentor during their time at Fluminense.
"Deco helped me a lot," he said.
"He was my best friend at Fluminense and he did so much for me."
Wellington's arrival will add to Shakhtar's array of Brazilian talent, with Ismaily, Ilsinho, Alan Patrick, Alex Teixeira, Douglas Costa, Taison, Maicon Oliveira and Luis Adriano all with the club.
His arrival in Ukraine has coincided with the departure of compatriot Fernandinho, who completed his move to Manchester City earlier on Thursday.
