Shayne Wynn is a wide receiver for the Indiana University Hoosiers of the Big Ten Conference. He is a Phil Steele 2014 pre-season All-Big Ten third team selection.
Wynn played his high school ball at Glenville High School for head coach Ted Ginn Sr. A third team All-Ohio selection as a senior, Wynn was a weapon in the kick-return game, tallying nine returns for touchdowns. ESPN.com ranked Wynn as the number-41 “athlete” in the nation. He helped Glenville advance to the 2009 state championship game. Wynn was also a track star in high school, as he was part of two state championship winning relay teams.
As a freshman in 2011 for Indiana he finished first on the team with 1,249 all-purpose yards (an IU true freshman record). The vast majority of his yardage came via the kick return as he tallied 1,015 kick return yards (also an IU true freshman record), 197 yards on receptions and 37 yards rushing.
His average of 104.1 all-purpose yards per game was the eighth highest in the conference. Wynn earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors against Illinois as he returned the opening kick 99 yards for a touchdown. Overall he accumulated 148 kick return yards in the game (an IU true freshman record).
Wynn led the Hoosiers in receptions in 2012 with 68 and tallied 660 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He finished second on the Hoosiers in all-purpose yards with 863. Wynn earned a spot on 247sports.com’s All-Big Ten second team and was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection by the media. Wynn finished second in the conference in catches per contest.
In 2013 Wynn recorded 46 catches for 633 yards and 11 touchdowns. His 11 receiving touchdowns were the second most in the conference. He also tallied a rushing touchdown a punt return touchdown. Wynn finished the 2013 season with 1,158 all-purpose yards.
