The defending champions are bolstering their roster yet again. The reigning MLS champions, Sporting KC, have signed Spanish midfielder Antonio Rodriguez Dovale. The signing is pending on the receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate and, in accordance with league policy, the terms of the deal were not announced.
"We are happy to be able to add a player of his quality to our roster," Manager Peter Vermes told the teams' website. "He can play multiple positions within our system and we hope that we can help him to adapt to our team and to Major League Soccer as quickly as possible."
Dovale was just as thrilled to be with Sporting KC.
"I am very excited to be in Kansas City," Dovale said. "Sporting KC is a very ambitious and successful club and I look forward to helping them achieve their goals. My motivation is high to come here and improve as a player and help this club any way possible."
This pickup could easily add much needed depth to Sporting's midfield. With the amount of travel the team must endure, fresh talent in the midfield could be the difference between a win or a loss. Singing Dovale also sets up the potential for scoring opportunities in combination with Graham Zusi. If Zusi sits out, Dovale also can step in to assist strikers C.J. Sapong and Dom Dwyer. Manager Peter Vermes makes yet another great signing.
