The 49ers’ tight end has really been through the wars. After not living up to the lofty expectations of being the sixth pick in the 2006 draft, he nearly played himself right off the team when he infuriated then-coach Mike Singletary. Singletary’s infamous rant to the media, highlighted by his “I want winners!” effectively put Davis in line, and he has since become one of the best all-around tight ends in the game.
Off the field, Davis is a renaissance man. He’s appeared in music videos and TV shows, as well as being involved in the business community. Most notably, he has opened an art gallery in San Francisco. Davis seems like the type of guy that might prefer a glass of wine from his own vineyard, instead of a pint of beer, but that’s fine. I’d love to pick his brain about the turnaround he’s made since being in Mike Singletary’s doghouse to his unquestioned success.
